Biography

Ben Graf Henneke was born in Missouri and graduated from the University of Tulsa, the University of Iowa, and the University of Illinois. Dr. Henneke began his career as a reporter on the Tulsa Daily World radio broadcast. He was a freelance correspondent, radio writer, director of the Tulsa Theatre and director of the Park Municipal Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio, before he became head of the Speech Department at the University of Tulsa. He also served as administrative vice president of the University and as its president from 1958 to 1967. He was one of the founders of the University Association for Professional Radio Education and a member of Theta Alpha Phi, Pi Kappa Delta, and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternities. Dr. Henneke served as educational advisor to the National Broadcasters Association and speech consultant to Pan American Petroleum Corporation.

Ben Henneke was the originator and quizmaster of the “Going to College” Radio Show sponsored by KVOC and the University of Tulsa.
