Ames

Ames is a small town in Major County, Oklahoma, with a population of 193 (2020 census). It is primarily known for being situated within the Ames crater, a geological structure also called the Ames Astrobleme. The town is home to the Ames Astrobleme Museum. It was named for railroad official Henry S. Ames in 1902, and oil was discovered in the crater in 1991.
