Okmulgee

Okmulgee, Oklahoma, is named from the Muskogee word for "boiling waters." Historically, it served as the seat of government for all of what would become the state of Oklahoma (excluding the Panhandle) for seven years starting in 1870. The city is located 38 miles south of Tulsa and is in the heart of Oklahoma's "Green Country."
